The following are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about this Highway 60 Preliminary Design Study and Class EA.

What is the purpose of this study?
This Preliminary Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) will identify capacity, geometric and operational improvements along the two Highway 60 sections shown in the key plan. The study will identify operational and capacity needs, evaluate alternatives and recommend a plan to improve Highway 60 within the study limits.

Who are stakeholders?
Stakeholders are broadly defined as any individual or group that is affected by or is interested in the study. MTO is committed to an extensive consultation program, one that actively engages and involves members of the public, non-government organizations (NGOs), municipalities, First Nations and Aboriginal groups, regulatory agencies, businesses and industry.

What is the current status of the project?
The project team has completed the analysis and evaluation of alternatives being considered and has identified the preliminary design of the preferred alternative. Following Public Information Centre (PIC) #1 (held May 13, 2010), additional alternatives in the Dwight area were identified and considered as part of the preliminary design phase. The results of the analysis and evaluation and the selection of the preferred alternative were presented for public and agency review at PIC #2, which took place on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, 2011. The project team is currently finalizing the preliminary design of the preferred alternative.
